WMF Soup Kitchen

It has been a long-term vision and goal of WMF to play a unique role in the City’s efforts to meet the needs of the homeless and vulnerable people.

The WMF Soup kitchen offers free hot meals every Sunday to an all-inclusive community encapsulating elderly, isolated, vulnerable, homeless, low-income families, BAME communities, and those with underlying health issues. Each guest receives a nutritious meal including protein, vegetables, fruit, and a bottle of water. Our ‘guests’ don’t need to worry about where their next meal will be coming from!

When the pandemic hit, food insecurity became an even greater concern for the elderly, needy, homeless, and families who were struggling during the lockdown in Wolverhampton.

After being awarded £10,000 from the Government’s Coronavirus Community Support Fund distributed by the National Lottery Community Fund the WMF Team launched the soup kitchen on the 18th October 2020, with a team of dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes to support the outreach initiative.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was decided to offer a door-to-door delivery service. With the help of our dedicated volunteers, over 2500 meals were delivered in the first four months.

We were honoured to be awarded funding for the soup kitchen; As a charity run by volunteers, we depend on this type of funding along with donations from businesses and the local community to continue our work, to feed and support more individuals and families. Our policy ensures 100% of your donation is used to support those most in need of the Soup Kitchen.

Volunteering is a great way to do something as a family that will benefit others, including other families. This winter, consider volunteering for a soup kitchen or another organisation that helps those who are less fortunate. It’s a great way to spend time together while helping those in need.
